Nestled on the edge of the Northumberland International Dark Sky Park, Thistle Cottage is an ideal retreat for stargazers. Covering 572 square miles, this Gold-Tier protected dark sky reserve is one of the largest in Europe, offering breath-taking views of the Milky Way and, under the right conditions, the chance to witness the spectacular Aurora. The heart of the home is the modern L-shaped open-plan living space, featuring a fully equipped kitchen, dining area, and two comfortable seating areas. Large windows frame the picturesque countryside, creating a bright and relaxing space to unwind, entertain, or simply enjoy the views. On the ground floor, you'll find a versatile bedroom set up with two single beds, which can be reconfigured into a king-size bed upon request when booking. A convenient downstairs WC and sink add to the practicality of the property. Upstairs, the impressive master suite features a king-size bed, a stylish ensuite bathroom with a freestanding bath, and glass doors that open to breath-taking views across the surrounding countryside. The third bedroom also offers a king-size bed, while the fourth bedroom is furnished with a comfortable double bed. A modern family bathroom completes the first floor. Outside, guests can enjoy a private patio area with Hot Tub and a large enclosed garden, perfect for outdoor dining, relaxing in the fresh air, or letting children play safely. Next door to Bluebell Cottage, Rochester, that can also be booked through Host and Stay increasing the number of Guests to 16. Guest Access Guests will receive access details on the day of checking in to the property. Private parking is available on the driveway to the property. Please note that 2 x small dogs are allowed at the property (i.e. cockapoo size) or 1 x medium dog. Interaction with Guests We are always available to help so please don't hesitate to reach out. The Neighborhood Rochester is a small, picturesque village located on the historic route of Dere Street, the Roman road that once connected York with Scotland. Visitors can explore the remains of the Roman fort of Bremenium, which stands on a commanding hillside overlooking the surrounding countryside. The village is also close to the Pennine Way and St Cuthbert's Way, making it a popular destination for walkers, cyclists and outdoor enthusiasts. Just a few miles to the south lies Otterburn, a charming village steeped in history. It is best known for the Battle of Otterburn, fought in 1388, one of the most famous Anglo-Scottish border conflicts. Today, Otterburn is a peaceful rural community offering welcoming accommodation, traditional pubs and easy access to Northumberland's spectacular landscapes. Rochester and Otterburn offer a gateway to some of the most beautiful and unspoilt landscapes in the North East of England. Surrounded by rolling hills, ancient forests and wide-open moorland, the area is renowned for its tranquillity, dark skies and rich history. Also nearby is the bustling city of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, which guests may enjoy visiting. Newcastle Airport is a thirty minute drive from the property. Within a thirty minute drive from the property, guests may like to travel to the towns of Rothbury, Crageside, Jedburgh (Scotland) and Kielder Forest.
