Description

Tucked away down a private driveway in the Suffolk countryside, Dutch Cottage is a bright, 2-bed home offering a peaceful escape for up to 4 guests. Surrounded by greenery, wildflowers, and birdsong, it's ideal for families, dog owners (no cats please, pet fee applies), and anyone seeking a quiet retreat. The cottage is lovingly cared for with low-waste, organic touches and guides to local walks and farm shops. Expect a warm welcome, homegrown touches, and a truly relaxing stay. The Space Bedrooms: Two comfortable double bedrooms sleeping up to 4 guests, dressed in soft linens, filled with natural light, and offering serene countryside views. Light & Bright Interiors: Generous windows flood every room with sunlight. In cooler months, warm up beside the roaring open fire after a day exploring nearby medieval towns and country trails. Farmhouse Kitchen & Dining: Features an exposed brick archway and everything needed to cook home-cooked meals using fresh produce from nearby Baythorne Hall Farm Shop. The light-filled dining area overlooks the garden, perfect for slow mornings. Sun-Filled Conservatory: A peaceful space to unwind with a book, morning tea, or yoga while taking in garden views from every angle. Secluded Garden & Wildlife: Relax in the large, private garden under the expansive Suffolk sky. Spot local wildlife including Red Kites, Buzzards, Geese, rare Hobbies, barn owls, and fallow deer. Stroll down to the boundary for a glimpse of neighbouring horses. Host Philosophy: We embrace eco-conscious living—composting organic waste and keeping the garden bee- and bird-friendly. If you love fresh air, open windows, and a slower pace of life near historic landmarks, you will feel right at home. Guest Access Guests enjoy exclusive, private access to the entire cottage and large secluded garden. Generous private off-street parking is available on-site for up to 3 vehicles. Check-in is fully automated via keyless entry or secure lockbox for total flexibility. Interaction with Guests Self Check-In & Privacy: We offer flexible self check-in so you can arrive at your convenience. We respect your privacy and give you full space to enjoy your stay uninterrupted. Here to Help: While we leave you to enjoy your peaceful retreat, we are easily reachable by phone or message if you need local landmark recommendations, help with the cottage, or any assistance during your stay. The Neighborhood Set off a private driveway in rural Suffolk, Dutch Cottage combines complete privacy with easy access to top historic landmarks, farm shops, and country parks: • Baythorne Hall & Farm Shop (2-min drive): A Grade I listed 14th-century landmark featuring a local deli, café, bakery, antiques center, wine merchant, and award-winning butcher. • Stoke-by-Clare (5-min drive): A postcard-pretty village surrounded by idyllic walking routes. • Clare Castle Country Park (9-min drive): Explore 36 acres of historic trails, 13th-century stone Norman castle ruins set on a 60-foot motte, and Victorian railway architecture in Suffolk's smallest town. • East Town Park (5-min drive): Scenic park along the River Stour with accessible paths, ideal for dog walks and family outings. • Long Melford & Kentwell Hall (22-min drive): Famous for its historic high street, antique shops, fine dining (like Indian cuisine at The Melford Valley), and red-brick Tudor manor house surrounded by moats. • Haverhill Town (5-min drive): Quick access to supermarkets, pharmacies, markets, and a cinema.
